PRELIMINARY DESIGN STAGE
Choosing the “right” stone will put the project in the right track avoiding facing problems of availability, budget or technical aspects. With our knowledge of all the different types of stone, its characteristics and possibilities in different applications and contexts, allows us to advise and guide architect, designers and developers. The “Stone Specs Handbook” is the service to go for this project’s phase: We analyze the stone choices made by the design and architecture teams, considering technical characteristics and fit for purpose, availability of the stone in the quarry, project budget (which includes a value engineering exercise) and aesthetic, proposing alternatives when the initial selection doesn’t satisfy the 4 aspects. The final report, is a clear handbook to be used to finalize the stone selection and write the project specifications in the correct way.
Upon completing our stone selection process, you will receive the “Stone Selection Handbook.” This detailed document includes the stones that the designers and architects selected, alternative options for stones deemed unsuitable, and the market price ranges of the chosen stone.
TENDER AND POST-TENDER STAGE
In this phase of the project, we assist the Architect, Developers, and Contractors in reviewing the contracts, method statements, and drawings, and in preparing a testing plan as a requirement of the project.
PROCUREMENT PHASE
When the stone is procured by the contractor, we provide a quality control service Thanks to a team of Architectural Stone Inspectors located in Italy, China, Greece, Turkey, Portugal, Brazil and UAE. Stonex Consulting provide a unique project support, ensuring the conformity of the stone to the project requirements, before it gets shipped to the country of the project.
To ensure high standards throughout the construction process, StoneX Consulting follows three essential steps: quality control at the quarry site, ensuring that each piece of stone gets checked before getting shipped. quality control of dry layout: the dry layout is the process of laying stone on the floor in dry way (usually in the factory), following the layout of the project. Our Architectural Stone Inspectors review it, blending the material as per the design intent and project requirements. Quality control during installation, to ensure that the workmanship quality provided by the contractor is aligned with the project’s requirements.
For each inspection conducted, submittals will be signed and comprehensive reports will be issued, maintaining transparency and accountability at every stage of the construction process.
FINAL APPROVAL
To ensure that the stonework aligns with the project’s specifications and client’s expectations, StoneX Consulting will complete the final inspection WIR (Work Inspection Report) provided by the contractor. This certification process verifies that the stonework has been executed according to the project’s requirements, maintaining quality and compliance with the established standards.
